Let’s be honest…

For the past few weeks, the only basketball team that has been getting all the love and attention here in the Hawkeye State has been the Iowa Women’s Basketball team.

Obviously, there’s a whole lot to be excited about when it comes to this group of athletes.

The team, led by Head Coach Lisa Bluder navigated a third victory in the Big 10 tournament, making them three-time champions.

That win is something to be incredibly proud of!

Plus, Caitlin Clark has just been smashing records left and right.

She broke and set the women’s NCAA scoring record AND smashed through the NCAA all-time scoring record.

Clark and her teammates are absolute beasts on the court.

Something else this team is, is good sports. They clearly love to hype up and support other women athletes.

Another Team in Eastern Iowa in the Spotlight

It's been an exciting few weeks for the women's basketball team at Wartburg College. Located in Waverly, the school excels in Division III athletics.

Right now, it's the women's basketball team is getting their moment in the spotlight.

For the third time in program history, the Wartburg women's basketball team will be going to the Final Four for their division. They've scored twenty-nine wins this season, which is the most they've won since 2017-2018.

They are gearing up for a Final Four appearance in the Division III women's basketball tournament. They are set to play No. 14/14 Smith College on Thursday, March 14th in Columbus, Ohio.

Iowa Gives A Handshake to Wartburg

On Wednesday, March 13th Wartburg College's Facebook page posted a video featuring the Division I Iowa Hawkeye's women's team.

With Coach Bluder being a UNI alum, it makes sense that the team is trying to support schools in the Cedar Valley.

In this short video, Caitlin Clark is seen front and center with the rest of the squad.

She acknowledges that the Wartburg Knights have a big game coming up and wished them good luck.

"We're all rooting for you!" Clark said in the clip.

This matchup was set for 5:00 PM Eastern/ 4:00 PM Central time at the Capital Center Performance Arena.

How Did They Do?

While it was a good game, the Knights did not come out on top. A valiant effort was head, but the Wartburg team ended up losing to Smith 61-54.

Still, a good showing for the Wartburg Knights!
