Walmart has seen a fair number of changes over the years and some of these changes have come to the dismay of the superstore shoppers. Last October, Walmart updated (changed) its coupon policy, which cracked down on how many coupons shoppers could use at once, not allowing customers to use phone coupons, and limiting 4 coupons per household, etc.

Most of the time when we hear about a business making changes, we roll our eyes and wonder what they're taking away from us. How will this affect our wallet the next time we visit the store and what good deal is no longer around?

Walmart is making another change. However, I think this is a change a vast majority of shoppers are going to be happy about.

Parcel Stations

According to Walmart, they are adding parcel stations to their delivery hubs.

Parcel stations help us move goods even faster to a customer’s home by using our Private Fleet to transport more online orders. Packages originate in our fulfillment centers and move to a sortation center or directly to stores, where they are then delivered to a customer’s home using our last-mile delivery network. In many ways, you can think of a parcel station as a mini post office that receives and delivers packages.

Walmart is trying to speed up the way they can transport online orders! Transporting these online orders through parcel stations will benefit Walmart, Walmart Associates, and Walmart customers. These stations will give shoppers more time to place online orders on a greater assortment of merchandise for next-day delivery.

By the end of 2024, Walmart plans on having over 40 parcel stations in stores, intending to have them in operation by the busy holiday shopping season. Once the initial installation has taken place, Walmart plans to expand these parcel stations to more locations.

In 2024, online shopping is one of the most preferred ways for people to shop. Not only is shopping online convenient, but it also saves time and can prevent impulse buys when walking up and down shopping aisles.

Sam Walton is Walmart's founder and he believes in exceeding customers expectations.

Give customers what they want – and a little more. Today, customers value home delivery as their preferred online fulfillment method. Parcel stations are yet another step we’re taking to give them what they want and more, and we’re looking forward to hearing their feedback.
