90 degrees. That was the temperature in Red Oak, in southwest Iowa, Monday when emergency personnel was called after two kids were seen sitting in a car outside a Dollar General Store. Thankfully, they're ok.

According to KMAland, witnesses said a 5-year-old boy and 5-month-old girl had been in a vehicle in the parking lot of Dollar General between 10 and 15 minutes when authorities were called. The vehicle was not running and one window was down.

The children were put into an ambulance that came to the scene, so they could cool down. When the children's father, 36-year-old Joseph A. Nelson, came out of the store, he was arrested. Nelson has been charged with two counts of child endangerment. The charge is an aggravated misdemeanor, punishable by a fine and up to two years in prison. There is no mandatory minimum sentence. He is being held at the Montgomery County Jail on $2,000 bond.

The charges against Nelson come one day after a 16-month old girl died after being left in a car in Sioux City when the outdoor temperature was 98 degrees.
