The Iowa men's basketball team got their first commitment for the 2020 season on Tuesday. Three-star point guard Ahron Ulis announced his intent to play for Fran McCaffery and the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery knew the Ulis family very well. He recruited Ahron's brother Tyler to play for Iowa several years ago. He went on to play for Kentucky, win SEC player of the year and eventually get drafted by the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. At 6 foot 2, Ahron is taller than his older brother. He averaged 18 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists last season for Marian Catholic in Chicago Heights, Illinois.

The addition of Uhlis adds some much-needed depth to the Iowa backcourt. Guard Jordan Bohannon is likely to redshirt this season due to hip surgery. His return in 2020, along with Ulis, Connor McCaffery, CJ Frederick, and Joe Toussaint would look pretty good for Fran McCaffery.
