Stress may be the most Googled medical symptom in the state of Iowa, but ironically a new study says Iowa is ranked number 50 on the list of the "most stressed out states" in America.

How the hell does that happen?

Iowa is so stress free, that living here is as stressful as watching the corn grow.

The study was done by Zippia, and they determined their list by looking at six different factors:

  • Commute times
  • Unemployment
  • Hours worked
  • Population density
  • Home price to income ratio
  • Percent of the population that is uninsured

The rest of the least stressed states are also from the Midwest. Minnesota came in second place, followed by Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

So where should we avoid living? My advice is to stay away from big cities. The top five most stressed states are:

  1. New Jersey
  2. Georgia
  3. Florida
  4. California
  5. New York
