Iowa is One of the Worst States to Work From Home

Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, lots of people have been able to work from home over the course of the past year. But, some states are better for working from home than others.

The website WalletHub recently did a study to figure out which states are the best and the worst for working remotely. They looked at 12 key metrics for their study, including household internet access, cybersecurity, internet costs, average home square-footage, and the number of people who worked from home pre-pandemic. The scores were then tallied up and put into two overall categories: "Work Environment" and "Living Environment."

The state of Iowa did NOT do well on this list. We are 43rd in the country for 'Best States for Remote Work,' putting us in the bottom ten. In the category of "Work Environment" we are 38th, and for "Living Environment" we are 46th. The only states to rank worse than us are New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Arkansas, Mississippi, North Dakota, Hawaii, and Alaska.

On the other hand, the BEST states for working remotely include Delaware, North Carolina, Georgia, New Hampshire, and Tennessee.

I'm very grateful that Brain and I were able to work for home for a few weeks last summer when a few people in our office (including us) were diagnosed with COVID-19, but I think we can both agree that we'd much rather work from the studio. Don't get me wrong, it was nice to wear sweatpants every day, but it's much easier to do our jobs from the same place.
