The state of Iowa is in the running to be the home of a new Toyota automotive plant, and state officials are putting on a full court press to try and make the project a reality.

According to a recent report in the Wall Street Journal, Toyota is considering Iowa and 10 other states as a possible home for the new $1.6 billion plant. If that plant was built in Iowa, it could create as many as 4,000 new jobs.

A spokesperson for the Iowa Governor's office says that the Iowa Economic Development Authority has been in touch with Toyota to make them aware of all the benefits of building their plant in Iowa. A spokesperson said that they can't confirm where Iowa stands in the process but did confirm discussions with the automaker.

Toyota has stated publicly that they are just getting started in their selection process and would neither confirm nor deny the WSJ report.
