Iowa Has Nation’s Top Graduation Rate
Statistics released by the United States Department of Education show good news for Iowa.
Gazette reports that the state is tops in the country in graduation rate, at 91%. Gov. Kim Reynolds touted "record investments in preK-12 education" last year, and "efforts to build on that with $93 million in additional dollars. While we can be proud of where we are, there’s a lot more work to do to ensure our students not only graduate high school but they do so ready to meet the demands of the 21st century.”
Sounds like we're on a pretty good track toward that.
Students with disabilities also graduated at a record-high level last year, 74.3 percent, versus the 67.1 percent national average.
Overall, the next highest states after Iowa were New Jersey, Tennessee, Texas and Kentucky. Kudos to our students for excelling in their studies.
