Iowa City is inviting the public to two informal meetings to review design advancement and construction phasing for the Pedestrian Mall Improvements Project. The public open house will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at the Sheraton Hotel, 210 S. Dubuque St. in Iowa City.

According to the Facebook Event Page:

The Pedestrian Mall Improvements Project is part of the larger Downtown and Pedestrian Mall Streetscape Plan. The goal of the work is to improve accessibility, infrastructure and the look and feel of the area. Upgrades will include new amenities like lighting, planting and accents that celebrate Iowa City’s uniqueness and cultural footprint in the area.

The project is currently in the design stage and construction is anticipated to begin in 2018.
