When you go to most any large department or grocery store, you're greeted with many different payment methods. You can pay with cash, credit/debit, and with a check in most cases. You can tap your phone or watch and use Apple Pay or Google Pay or any other touch pay method.

In 2022, we're also seeing an increasing number of ways to checkout. There's the traditional going to a register and having an employee scan your items. Then there's self-checkout. But soon, Iowa-based Hy-Vee will be offering yet another method.

According to the website Grocery Dive, the West De Moines-based grocery giant will be offering customers a chance to check out their own groceries using the Scan & Go app.

Customers using the app will still be able to get fuel saver points, scan coupons, and will be able to purchase produce that requires being weighed by using a special bar code on the scale screen.

If this method of paying sounds familiar, chances are you're a Sam's Club member or know someone who is. I have personally used the Scan & Go Sam's Club app many times with much success and time saving, so personally, I'm a huge fan of this system.

Currently, the new Scan & Go checkout option is only available at certain Hy-Vee locations, including locations in Altoona, Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines. The retailer will soon be making this option available at more Hy-Vee's, with no set timeline given in the story.

The same report also indicates this method of payment has, or will soon be rolled out to more popular retailers including Walmart.
