Hy-Vee was responding to the Coronavirus pandemic when it began to have most of its stores close as early as 8 p.m. Their goal was to allow employees more time to deep-clean for the safety of customers and to re-stock shelves of essential items more frequently.

They've found more efficient ways to handle those tasks, which brings good news to customers who preferred or needed to shop later in the evening and were already limited in their options with the stores permanently discontinuing overnight hours. KCRG reports that for their benefit and that of essential workers who may currently be putting in overtime fighting the pandemic, Hy-Vee has announced it will temporarily extend its limited hours.

The 7-8 a.m. hour will still be dedicated to the needs of those most vulnerable customers over the age of 60, expectant mothers and those with health risks exacerbated by COVID-19.

For all others, Hy-Vee will now be open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. to provide more opportunities to shop at their socially-distanced convenience.
