With all the current and very important talk about COVID-19, how to tell if you have the symptoms, how and where to get tested for it, and what to do if you find out you do have it, medical experts want to remind us that when the time comes, it's still important to get that flu shot. According to Sioux City's KTIV, the CDC recommends an annual flu shot for anyone 6 months of age or older.

Enter Hy-Vee. Literally, and with your mask on (which they are still providing to customers as long as supplies last). KCRG says Hy-Vee will still offer the free flu shot inside the pharmacy, but they have announced that at their stores that include drive-up pharmacies, the option will be available to get your flu shot. Appointments are not required but you should call ahead to ensure availability. We get that some people don't want a flu shot or don't believe in it. It's an option if you do.

It will be available August 17-October 31 during the following hours:

  • Monday, 7-11 a.m.
  • Thursday, 3-7 p.m.
  • Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

If you have tested positive for Coronavirus or are experiencing similar symptoms, they ask that you wait to get the flu shot until after you've gone through the proper amount of quarantining (10-14 days) and your symptoms have stopped in order to avoid exposure to others. You do not need a prescription to receive a flu shot at Hy-Vee unless you're under 6 years of age.

Oh yeah, you also need to wear a face-covering even if you'd like to use the drive-through flu vaccine option at Hy-Vee.
