Hugh Jackman Recorded Inspirational Message for Iowa Men [WATCH]
Before the Iowa men's basketball team hit the hardwood on Sunday in the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament, they received a special message from Broadway actor Hugh Jackman, and one of his co-stars.
Australian actor Hugh Jackman is currently starring in "The Music Man" on Broadway. While Jackman plays the role of Professor Harold Hill on the stage in New York City, one of his co-stars is Remy Auberjonois. Remy is married to Margaret McCaffery's sister, Katherine.
Remy and Jackman combined on a short video for the Hawkeyes, wishing them luck in the championship game. It's a little pump up session for Remy's nephews Connor and Patrick McCaffery, his brother-in-law, Iowa's head coach Fran McCaffery, and the entire team.
What a weekend it was in Indianapolis. Four wins in four days and Iowa's third Big Ten Tournament Championship.
As the clock ticked to zero on Iowa's 75-66 win over Purdue in the Big Ten Championship Game, the joy overflowed. In the video below, brothers Connor and Patrick McCaffery share a postgame hug.
Following Iowa's victory, it was family time in the bedlam. First, a hug between Iowa's head man and his senior son, Connor.
Next, dad grabbed Patrick, who had been diagnosed with thryoid cancer while still in middle school. Fran McCaffery was on his way to coach Iowa in a March 6, 2014 game in East Lansing, Michigan when he received the news of his now fully-recovered son's diagnosis.
Margaret McCaffery also found her middle son on the court. Just over eight years after his cancer diagnosis, Margaret and Patrick shared a lengthy embrace. While winning the Big Ten Tournament title was wonderful, these hugs were also about a much bigger win.
