How to Stay Cool in High Humidity
In case you haven't noticed, it's been a muggy one around here lately. Even if you LOVE summer, as I do, the humidity can get unbearable and cause you problems. I've been trying to get my walks in at night but the weather has even made that difficult.
There are some tips you can follow to beat the heat that may seem obvious but they are important information you should know.
- Stay in the basement: since basements are said to be 10-15 degrees cooler than the upstairs area, they are the best place to be in the summer.
- Don't heat the oven: avoid cooking foods that require use of the oven for too long, as it heats up the house. Grill out, dine out or order in.
- Close the curtains. Draw the blinds to keep the light in and the heat OUT.
- Lose the extra blankets. Sleep better at night by sleeping without your blanket/comforter and just chill out in cotton sheets. It will cool your body temperature for a more restful sleep.
Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and drink plenty of water, coupled with the above tips and the ones HERE, and our stretch of humidity should be a lot more tolerable.
