Homicide in Des Moines

According to WHO-TV, "A man is dead following a shooting on the north side of Des Moines."

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Police responded to a call in the 1600 block of 9th Street. That's were 23-year-old Rashid Mohamed was found on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

Authorities arrived on the scene and performed CPR on Mohamed. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Des Moines police are now investigating and have interviewed multiple witnesses. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as soon as we learn more information.
