Kids, grab the bikes. Hiawatha is hosting a bike rodeo and parade this Friday afternoon (May 22nd) and they're even giving away free bike helmets.

The event will be held in the 7th Avenue parking lot of Hiawatha's Guthridge Park, from 4:30 to 6pm. The Hiawatha Police Department will be teaching hand signals to help keep your kids safe. Interactive lessons and bike safety information will also be shared. And if your kids need bike helmets, get there early. The first 100 kids who need them will get 'em free!

When the learning is done, kids can hop on their bikes to join the bike parade which will follow the trail in the park. Decorate all your family's bikes and ride together... the parade begins at 5:45. Don't have what you need? Items will be available at the bike rodeo to assist you. The band, Full Circle, plays following the bike parade (from 6 to 9).

Friday's forecast is a great one (sunny and low to mid-70's), so get out and enjoy the start of the Memorial Day Weekend.
