Hawkeyes’ Saturday Night Foe Pitt Featured Two Childhood Heroes of Mine [VIDEO]

The Iowa Hawkeyes host the Pitt Panthers under the lights Saturday. Both teams come in to the matchup at 2-0.  Hawks are favored by 5 1/2. It should be a great game under the Musco Lights. Former Iowa star Brett Greenwood's appearance as an honorary captain will be memorable.

When I was a kid, Pitt had a couple of heavies. This program honed the skills of future Cowboy Tony Dorsett. As a Dallas fan, I've so many memories of TD's gallops to the end zone at Texas Stadium, but it all started at Pitt for this Rochester, PA native.

Dolphin legend Dan Marino is 5 years younger than Dorsett. He arrived on campus just after Tony and made just as big an imprint on the Panther program. Marino was a Pittsburgh native and as this video shows, he was a local boy who gave the hometown fans a thrill.

I'm glad that old video is preserved for the masses via YouTube. #33 and #13 were two of the best players of their time. I'm glad we don't have to face them tomorrow.
