The month of August is almost here. And with that comes the official start of college football! We've already seen some player award 'watch' lists released. Some publications have even released their top 25 teams. But the NCAA has officially released their list of the top 25 teams headed into the 2019 season and the Iowa Hawkeyes are getting some attention.

It should come as no surprise that the NCAA, along with everyone else so far, has Clemson and Alabama ranked #1 and #2. But the Iowa Hawkeyes make an appearance in the rankings too, coming in at #18. This is what they had to say about this year's Iowa team.

Iowa brings back QB Nate Stanley and should have a strong 1-2-3 at running back...The Hawkeyes lost two of the country's best tight ends but should still be better on offense. Defensively, it's all about AJ Epenesa. He could lead the country in sacks.

The Big Ten is well represented in the NCAA rankings with Northwestern at #24, Michigan State at #22, Nebraska at #20, Wisconsin at #16, Penn State at #13, Michigan is ranked #6, and Ohio State comes in at #3.

The Associated Press and USA Today Coaches preseason polls will both be released in early August. Iowa kicks off its season August 31st against Miami of Ohio at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City!
