The Grill Works in Marion is Preparing to Expand
The Grill Works in Marion has long been the place to go for grilling and BBQ enthusiasts. Fans of the shop may soon have even more room to shop!
According to the Marion Sun, The Grill Works, located at 763 8th Avenue, is in the process of acquiring the building next door at 785 8th Avenue. That building was the home of Connie's Quilt Shop for 31 years. The owner, Connie Moyer, recently announced her retirement and the store recently closed. Grill Works co-owner Lisa Gilliatt told the Marion Sun that the Grill Works is in urgent need of more space and they have been in contact with the city regarding the property.
So what would an expansion of The Grill Works look like? The Marion Sun reports that back in 2021, the business renovated a property behind the original location, adding a prep kitchen, storage, and office space. That allowed them to enlarge their current showroom. Would they do the same to the old Connie's Quilt Shop building? That remains one possibility as does doing a complete rebuild on the new lot. However, Gilliatt told the Marion Sun that finding someplace to relocate during construction would be difficult.
I've been a huge fan of The Grill Works for many years now and enjoy many of their products at my home in Marion. I love exploring their wall of rubs and sauces, but what I love the most are the people. Owners Brian and Lisa and the entire staff will help you with any grilling questions you have and their customer service is second to none. I can't wait to see what plans they have for the future!
