Coralville's 4thFest is known for free concerts. fireworks, and a parade that's considered to be the largest Independence Day parade in the area, along with activities for familes and kids.

Most events take place in and around S.T. Morrisson Park, 1513 7th St.

They've announced their schedule of events, including the annual 4th Fest 5k run/walk. It takes off Saturday, June 29 at 8 a.m. and includes free Firecracker Kids Mini-Marathon (26.2 yards--as opposed to miles) for children up to age 8 at 8:45  Both events start at the Coralville Recreation Center.

What about the music? TWO free concerts take place on Wednesday, July 3, starting at 6:30 p.m. with The Sidewinders, who are described as "Citizen-soldiers by day and rock band by night, the Sidewinders is an energized band that performs current pop hits and rock classics."

Then it's the headliner. Former lead singer of Journey for over a decade, Steve Augeri takes the stage at 8 p.m. and will play the band's hits plus his own music.

It will be a fun evening with various food and beverage vendors onsite.

A carnival takes place throughout the event, opening at 2 p.m. on July 3 and 9 a.m. July 4. A pancake breakfast from 7-10 a.m. and parade  at 9, are on the agenda for the 4th. Fireworks and a concert from the Iowa City Community Band round out the festivities at 8:30 p.m.
