WHAT. A. NIGHT. Monday night was a record-setting one in Ames for former Iowa City High prep Ashley Joens.

Iowa State has had a women's basketball program for 46 years. In that time, no player had ever scored 30 points and grabbed 20 rebounds in the same game. Until sophomore Ashley Joens did it last night. That's not the only record she set, however.

Monday night, Joens also sank 16 free throws, tying a single-game record set by Angie Welle 17 years ago. The 20 rebounds in a game are the third-most ever in a game in Cyclone history. She also handed out a pair of assists and blocked a shot, according to a media release from Iowa State Athletics Communications.

Joens was held scoreless in the first quarter but had 11 points and 10 points at the break, the third double-double of her career. Yes, it was a night you dream of. Except for Joens, the record book shows it was a very real, unforgettable one.

Iowa State knocked off Texas Southern in the game 79-59. The Cyclones are now 2-1 on the season.
