Fireworks Sales Will Go Boom In Iowa
The nighttime skies will light up this summer with the glow of fireworks in Iowa, thanks to the passing of a new bill signed into law yesterday.
Iowa has long been one of the few states that has banned the sale and use of most fireworks.
As a former Wisconsinite I can admit that I'm happy to hear that the sale of fireworks in Iowa has been approved. There is nothing more fun than a small family gathering following a summertime cook-out, when the kids get to watch the showering sparks of color lighting up the night.
But that will change, now that Gov.Terry Branstad has legalized the sale of consumer fireworks, including bottle rockets, roman candles and sparks-showering fireworks.
According to CBS2 News: "Branstad signed a bill Tuesday approved by the Legislature that allows sales between June 1 and July 8 as well as from Dec. 10 to Jan. 3. Now, many fireworks vendors are eager to expand into the state.Under the law, cities and counties may still forbid the use of fireworks, but they cannot prohibit their sale."
