Baseball dreams are about to come to life for high school players across Eastern Iowa, and in a way that few student-athletes will ever get to experience. This June, the Field of Dreams Movie Site will open its brand-new professional ballpark with the “If You Build It” High School Series, and the spotlight is firmly on the kids who get to take the field.

According to a press release from Travel Dubuque, players from towns like Cascade, Dyersville, Dubuque, Bellevue, and Anamosa, will get to experience the iconic park in action, in part thanks to TH Media. They'll have a chance to step onto one of the most iconic fields in baseball history and create some serious memories. These athletes have grown up playing on local diamonds, and now they'll compete on a stage that connects them directly to the spirit of the game and current MLB stars.

One of the most anticipated matchups, for me, features my hometown kids, as Cascade will take on Dyersville Beckman, June 18th. That game alone brings a special energy, with local pride on the line and a community eager to support its athletes. In fact, every game will hold some significance for the students and their supporters. For all the players involved, representing their hometown on this field adds a whole other layer of excitement.

The series takes teams from across Eastern Iowa, including all six high schools from Dubuque County. Each game will offer young athletes the opportunity to feel like professionals for a day. They'll bask in the true ballpark environment, hear the crowd, and play in a place that's inspired baseball fans for decades.

“If You Build It” Series Games are as follows:

  • Wednesday, June 17: Clinton vs. Western Dubuque (JV and Varsity)
  • Thursday, June 18: Cascade vs. Beckman (Varsity Doubleheader)
  • Friday, June 19: Dubuque Hempstead vs. Dubuque Senior (Varsity Doubleheader)
  • Monday, June 22: Bellevue vs. North Linn (JV and Varsity)
  • Wednesday, June 24: Wahlert vs. West Delaware (JV and Varsity)
  • Friday, June 26: Maquoketa Valley vs. Anamosa (JV and Varsity)

Tickets go on sale April 27th. Additionally, fans can also join in the experience by picking up official series merchandise. Each team is featured on its own custom T-shirt, designed in school colors, giving families and supporters across Iowa a fun way to show pride and remember their special moment on the iconic field.

Events like this do more than just showcase talent: they build community, celebrate small-town connections, and remind everyone why baseball still holds such a powerful place as "America's Favorite Pastime." For these players, it won't be just another game, it'll be a dream realized.

Iowa is the capital of the Midwest! Ok, that's unofficial, but it's my stance. Here's what NON Iowans think of us.
