Everybody Cut Loose as Xavier High School Presents ‘Footloose’
If you are in your 40's you grew with Kevin Bacon turning the heart of a town around with the power of dance. No, I'm not talking about "Tremors", I'm talking about that quintessential 80's fave, Footloose! And now you can see the next generation bring this classic to life as Xavier High School in Cedar Rapids presents Footloose: The Musical.
The Xavier High School Facebook Event Page tells us about the show:
When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to the small farming town of Bomont, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn’t prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter, Ariel, sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the local adults eager to believe the worst about the new kid. When the senior class of Bomont High School rallies around Ren’s plan to hold a dance, he and Ariel must fight to change the minds of her father and the townspeople. Incorporating music from the classic 1984 movie soundtrack, this Tony Award nominated show will have you ready to cut “Footloose!”
