NASA is monitoring an asteroid about as large as the Empire State Building passing by Earth on June 6th.

Asteroid 2002 NN4 is expected to be 250-270 meters (820-1,870 feet). The Empire State Building is about 1,400 tall.

They say even though the size of it is a bit spooky, but experts say it'll pass by at a safe distance.

NASA has developed a tool that allows them to monitor all asteroids within 4.6 million miles of Earth, and predict the flight patterns of all of them.

There are actually near 20,000 near-Earth asteroids, but Dr. Lori Glaze, the Director of Planetary Science at NASA, isn't worried about collisions.

"All we have to do is change its speed a little faster or a little slower so that when it crosses Earth's orbit, it crosses either in front of us or behind us. It doesn't really keep me up at night."
