Another restaurant in Davenport has closed its doors permanently.

If you've followed The Bike Rack Bar & Grill on social media, you know that they've actually been closed for well over a month. But a social media post on a popular Facebook food page for the Quad Cities brought the closure to light and brought back nostalgia for several people in Davenport.

The Bike Rack Bar & Grill at 3303 N Brady St. in Davenport closed its doors permanently back on September 28th, 2024. Before it was called the Bike Rack, the property was home to Creekside Bar and Grill but people remember this location for the restaurant it was before that: McDonald's.

Back in the late 1950s, McDonald's was opening new locations across the country. McDonald's began its expansion into the Quad Cities (then the Tri-Cities) with the first McDonald's opening up in Moline off of Avenue of the Cities, according to the Quad-City Times.

On May 14, 1958, not only did Davenport get its first McDonald's location, but this was the first McDonald's to open in the state of Iowa. Many people on social media reminisced about when McDonald's was open at 3303 Brady Street and called for it once again to become a McDonald's location. Many people loved and remembered the playground.

McDonald's sold the property in March of 2006 to Randy and Kristen Adams, the original owners of Creekside, according to property records.

While it hasn't been fully confirmed, several people have said that this will be the new site of The Coffee Revolution, a local coffee shop in Davenport. The Coffee Revolution has two locations with one of them located down the road at 2642 N Brady St. and the other at 2225 W 53rd St. suite #100.
