Eastern Iowa School Cancels Classes Due to Safety Concern
Officials at Riceville Community School District, canceled classes today due to undisclosed "safety concerns".
The school's website page stated that the administration was "made aware Wednesday evening of a potential safety concern" that was directed toward the Riceville Community School District.
"Due to the potential seriousness of this situation, school will not be in session on 2-22-18. The Howard County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating the situation and we will release more details when they are available.
An update on the district's website, provided some additional information.
In the wake of recent school shootings around the nation, many parents appreciate that area schools are responding to these types of situations with caution in mind and safety for students and faculty their first and highest priority.
It is not known yet if school will be in session tomorrow.
