Some call it a popular place to get their caffeine fix in downtown Cedar Rapids. Most say it's downright famous if not legendary, and the Coffee Emporium will now be taking its talents to an additional location in the Corridor.

Currently located at 220 3rd Ave. SE in Cedar Rapids has expanded to a spot in the old High Grounds Coffee shop at 925 E. 2nd Ave. in Coralville (in the ever-growing Iowa River Landing development.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, the new location will offer "the same custom roasts and food in Cedar Rapids, alongside a new cocktail menu and gelato." They also say they plan to add more cocktails and food items, like charcuterie boards.

Also in Coralville, longer hours. The downtown Cedar Rapids location is only open from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. It serves a busy downtown workforce but because of the demographics they are targeting in Coralville, that location will be open 7-6 Monday through Friday and 8-5 on weekends. More time to enjoy those cocktails!

The shop actually opened May 15, and the owner says she's seen success and hopes to see more with their coffee staples as well as the additional products they've brought to the Coralville shop. Co-owner Abby White took over in Cedar Rapids in February and teamed up with her friend and "Iowa's Top Mixologist" John Sladek to create the cocktail options. They even make their own version of the Busch Latte, which features whiskey, caramel, cold brew, and of course, Busch Light.
