I'm an old school guy....the simpler, the better. Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate some of the finer things in life. But for the most part, I keep things pretty simple and I'm guessing that won't be changing anytime soon.

Last night I drove past the new "high tech" hotel in Cedar Rapids. It's called Tru by Hilton. It's located at 3900 Westdale Parkway SW. The hotel is part of the Westdale Mall redevelopment.

I think it's great we have a new hotel here in Cedar Rapids....but I also think it's ugly. It's has a weird shape with weird colors. I pulled over and snapped a few photos:

I'm told the Tru by Hilton was built "to appeal to the middle-class or millennial traveler." This hotel is all about social connectivity and your room key is actually routed through your cell phone. I'm getting a headache just thinking about it.

Welcome to the year 2089:

I may just be too old to appreciate this futuristic hotel. What do you think: Is this an ugly building or a beautiful piece of art?
