Exercise is something a lot of us have let fall by the wayside throughout the pandemic, but there are those who never stopped the physically demanding job requirements that come with being a first responder and protecting the community. We can help them and ourselves by joining an event called the Delaware County Hero Hustle. It's coming fast and registration is currently underway.

The Hero Hustle, according to its website, "welcomes all athletes, of all abilities. The goal is to have a good time, and raise money for a good cause! The race is a sprint distance triathlon comprised of a 400yd swim, a 16-mile bike ride, and a 5K run to wrap it up. The swim course will be held in Schram Pond. The bike course is out on a public highway and has rolling hills for most of the course."

The event has raised over $27,000 over the years for area fire, ambulance, and law enforcement heroes.

You can do the triathlon events by yourself or as a team of 2-3 while the duathlon is strictly an individual event.

Individual triathlon and duathlon events cost $65 and the team triathlon is $100. All events take place at 120 Schram Drive in Manchester and registration ends on August 27. The entry fee includes race entry, a t-shirt, medal, and timing chip. The event will be held on Sunday, August 29.

The 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks is coming up fast, so it's a good time to remember just how much sacrifice these folks' jobs take and how we can do our part to support them and challenge ourselves. For more information on the Hero Hustle, visit their website.
