It's over, it's finally over. The UAW and Deere and Company have reached an agreement ending a strike that has gone on for over a month. On Wednesday the United Auto Workers union members voted to accept a contract agreement putting an end to a strike that has left many Iowa John Deere workers unsure when they'd work again.

John Deere workers will begin work again immediately

The strike has ended and, according to KWQC, third shift workers are to begin working again immediately. News that couldn't be better for John Deere employees who have been striking since mid-October.

This new contract affects over 10,000 employees at 14 John Deere facilities, including several here in Iowa. In late October, a new offer promised to increase the wages by 10 percent at the onset, and then at a rate of between 3 percent and five percent each year until the end of the contract was rejected by 55% of union members. As a result, the strike rolled on.

During the first week of November, Deere and Company made its "Last, best, and final offer", which was voted on, and approved this evening (Wednesday, Nov. 17). Deere and Company say the new deal offered employees industry-leading wages and benefits, healthcare, and retirement.
