As if the early accumulation of snowfall we're getting this week is not harsh enough, soon it's going to be dark when you're coming home from work. On the other hand, I don't know about you, but the extra hour of sleep is going to go a long way for me this weekend.

Time to "fall back" for the end of daylight saving time.

Does anyone even HAVE a clock that needs reset manually anymore?

They all need to be set back one hour Saturday night, or for you all-nighters, by 2 a.m. Sunday.

While you're at it, check and replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

If it seems like we've been hearing about the idea of making standard time permanent for a while, without any action, seven states including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Nevada, Oregon, Tennessee, and Washington have approved legislation to make it happen.

Alaska, California, Massachusetts, Texas, Utah, Vermont and yes, Iowa have introduced legislation. What's the hold-up? It all needs approval at the federal level.

Arizona and Hawaii already get to keep the same time all year.  Should we join them? Share your thoughts in the comments.
