Courtlin Tried the Best Cookie of Her Entire Life This Week
A lot of Eastern Iowans were thrilled when Crumbl Cookies opened their first Iowa location in Cedar Rapids last November. When we worked the new shop's grand opening, the line to get in was seemingly endless! People waited over an hour in the cold, wrapped in blankets and sleeping bags, just to get a taste of their cookies. That's how we knew they had to be good.
If you're not familiar with Crumbl Cookies, the company is known for their weekly rotating menu. They only offer six flavors each week, with four of them swapped out on Sundays when the shop is closed. They have over 150 flavors in rotation!
Yesterday, I happened to come across a video on Facebook of this week's flavors, and one of them caught my eye. I've never heard of a cookie that looks AND tastes like a waffle, so it piqued my interest immediately. The official description of the flavor reads:
"Better than Saturday morning breakfast—a waffle cookie smothered with maple syrup and a dollop of buttercream frosting."
The waffle cookie looked so good that I stopped at Crumbl on my way home from work yesterday, and let me tell you, my assumptions were 100% correct. I've eaten a lot of cookies in my 30 years of life, but this cookie was the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. If this cookie asked me to quit my job, I would probably do it. The employee behind the counter recommended that I eat it while it was still warm, so I sat in my car in the parking lot, shoving pieces into my face with my bare hands like some kind of manic cookie goblin. I spilled syrup all over the front seat of my car, but it was worth it. I have no regrets.
If you want to try the waffle cookie from Crumbl, it's only available through Saturday night. After that, we have no idea when it will be back on the menu, so get it while you can!
