Coralville Police Find Eight Pounds Of Meth
According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, "Coralville police seized more than eight pounds of meth after a traffic stop last week."
Coralville police pulled over Dawn Colunga around 7 p.m. Friday night in Tiffin. Her passenger, Miguel Ruiz, was riding in the backseat. A police dog was on the scene and helped officers turn up 8.5 pounds of crystal methamphetamine. They also found some weed, a small amount of heroin, and a stolen handgun.
The Gazette story stated that they both face one count of controlled substance violation. Ruiz is also being charged with carrying weapons.
Both are being held in the Johnson County jail with a six-figure bond amount. We will update this story as soon as we learn more details.
