Freedom. We celebrate ours on Friday.

"Freedom is never voluntarily given by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed."
Martin Luther King

"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
George Washington

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Voltaire

"True individual freedom cannot exist without economic security and independence. People who are hungry and out of a job are the stuff of which dictatorships are made."
Franklin D. Roosevelt

"The law will never make men free, it is men that have to make the law free."
Henry David Thoreau

The center of Cedar Rapidians' universe on the 4th of July is always downtown along the Cedar. This year, we can enjoy the fireworks from a new vantage point.

The McGrath Amphitheater is now several events into it's first year of operation, and the reception couldn't be better. While most of the action of past gatherings in the city has been on the other side of the river, "The Amp" is now providing the west side of the waterline with some action.

And action we will have on Friday.

Our McGrath Music on the River Series continues with a big night celebrating our freedom here in the Hawkeye State. Britney Spears' little sister Jamie Lynn will entertain, cold beer will be served by Fleck Sales and you'll have the best spot in town to view the fireworks.

Get a guaranteed premiere seat for the fireworks, cold beer, and entertainment.

Gates open at 6pm. Show starts at 7p.
