The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission have made their decision. Cedar Rapids will NOT be getting a casino. The vote happened earlier today at the Diamond Joe Casino in Dubuque. The 5-person commission denied licenses for all three casino proposals.

This wasn't an easy vote for the commissioners. Or at least that's what they said. It really sounded like not enough had changed from the last time we attempted this in 2014. Studies claim a casino in Cedar Rapids would cannibalize other casinos in the state.

For some of you this is good news...for others it's bad news. Is there already too much gambling in the state of Iowa? Think about it - there are 23 casinos in the Hawkeye State. That seems like a lot, if you ask me.

Let us know what you think. Are you happy we lost the vote again? Should Cedar Rapids give up the dream of a casino in our city? Comment below and we can discuss!
