The west side of the city has been awash with news lately, now it's the east side's turn.

Lindale Mall, which has recently seen the closures of Burger King and Village Inn, on its perimeter, has announced one change and three additions.

Kirkland's will be opening near HuHot Mongolian Grill. Kirkland's previously had a location in Lindale Mall that closed several years ago. This will be Kirkland's second Iowa location for the home decor and gifts retailer. The other is in West Des Moines. Kirkland's had a Lindale Mall location that closed several years ago. That portion of northeast Cedar Rapids will definitely be go-to for home decor. HomeGoods is already located across Collins Road, in Collins Crossing.

The Gazette also reports Carter's and OshKosh B'gosh, children's apparel stores will be adding Cedar Rapids locations at Lindale, near the Younkers store. Their closest stores now are at Tanger Outlet Center in Williamsburg.

Finally, the panda is moving. Panda Express, that is. Now located in the food court, it's heading to a stand-alone building near Arby's. You would guess that's the former Village Inn building, but we don't know for sure. Panda Express already has one Cedar Rapids location, on Edgewood Road SW.

These announcements add to a busy week for retail and restaurants in Cedar Rapids. Monday and Tuesday, respectively, Westdale announced a Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers restaurant and that a Burlington Stores location will open in time for the 2016 holiday shopping season.

These two Cedar Rapids shopping centers are definitely vying for your attention and your dollars and that spells great news for everyone who shops in Cedar Rapids. Our choices continue to expand.
