The website Niche used data from the U.S. Census, FBI, BLS, CDC, and other sources to put together a list of the best cities to live in in the whole United States. I knew that there had to be at least ONE Iowa city in there somewhere, and I was right. Cedar Rapids may not have ranked high, but at least we made the list! Out of the 100 best cities, we placed in 100th.

I know, 100th place doesn't sound all that great, but out of all the cities in America? That's not too shabby. Plus, our individual rankings were pretty good. Our overall grade on Niche is an A-, and we received an A for commute and an A- for nightlife and cost of living. Public schools, housing, jobs, and health and fitness were all given B+ ratings.

The top 5 ranked cities are:

  1. Ann Arbor, Michigan
  2. Naperville, Illinois
  3. Arlington, Virginia
  4. Columbia, Maryland
  5. Berkeley, California
