Cedar Rapids Parks & Rec Programs Impacted by COVID
Needless to say, it's sad that at a time when everyone would like to be getting ready to ramp up their outdoor group recreation activity schedule, we can't. The Coronavirus crisis is impacting everything, including programs and events held through the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department.
The department has announced changes to several of these activities through a press release.
CANCELED:
- Easter Open House at Noelridge Greenhouse, originally scheduled April 11-12
- April swim lessons at Bender Pool. Expected to resume in June
POSTPONED:
- Old MacDonald's Farm will tentatively open in May.
- Arbor Day celebrations postponed to a yet-to-be-determined date
- The opening of park restrooms, drinking fountains and pavilions are postponed to a date to be determined. Patrons are asked to provide their own drinking water and hand sanitizer.
Parks, trails and dog parks themselves remain open but as a reminder, playground and exercise equipment are off-limits until further notice to adhere to social distancing.
You can learn more about programs and activities that are canceled or postponed and the procedures Parks & Rec ask you to follow when using their facilities during social distancing this Spring at their Facebook page.
