Cedar Rapids Museum Of Art Reopens this Weekend
More great news as three months of closures slowly continue to come to an end.
The reopening of the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art will take place this weekend with the continuation of an ongoing exhibit for patrons to enjoy.
KCRG reports the downtown attraction will, of course, have many safety protocols in place. Patrons will be required to wear a mask. Disposable ones will be available for purchase at the museum. Plexiglass barriers will be installed at the gift shop and information desk for the safety of customers and staff. Enhanced cleaning measures will be undertaken and as tempting as it may be to stand in awe of the brilliance behind the museum's doors, with "more than 7,800 works of art spanning many eras", according to their Facebook page, including an extensive collection of work from Iowa native Grant Wood, there is plenty to explore and then consider moving along in order to allow for safe social distancing.
"Across the Atlantic: American Impressionism through the French Lens" will be extended for viewing through August 30 and museum-goers will undoubtedly be as excited to return to see their favorite pieces of creative genius as the staff is to welcome them back.
Those who have missed this staple of downtown Cedar Rapids have waited three long months for the doors to come back open on Saturday, June 13, and Sean Ulmer, the executive director, said in a statement published by KCRG, "we are thrilled that we are ready to re-open to the public. The COVID-19 pandemic forced us to close three months ago, mid-way through our blockbuster Impressionism exhibition, and I am delighted that we were able to extend that exhibition and can now share it with our community again".
Hours for the museum will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday noon-4 p.m.; Thursday noon- 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.
The Cedar Rapids Museum of Art is closed on Mondays and major holidays, the next one being July 4th.
Adult admission is $8, $7 for seniors 62 and older, college students with ID get in for $6, children 6-18 for $4 and admission is free for kids 6 and under.
