Cedar Rapids Kernels Finish Season and Prepare for Playoffs
With Major League Pennant races heating up, local baseball fans are keeping a keen eye on area favorites Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Minnesota Twins. Even a few nearby Milwaukee Brewers fans have reason to be excited.
The weather is turning cooler, the days are getting shorter. Summer is winding down, and for many it's the absolute best time of year for baseball fans.
It was great first half season for our own Cedar Rapids Kernels and the team's second half won-loss record sits at 35-31 through tonight's final home game at Vet's Stadium.
And with a playoff spot assured thanks to that first-half season performance, the Kernels still have plenty to be excited about.
Following their final regular season game Monday (away at Beloit) the Cedar Rapids Kernels storm right into the first round of the Minor League baseball playoffs on Wednesday September 6th.
The Kernels will host the Kane County Cougars at Perfect Game Field on Wednesday September 6th at 6:35 p.m. in a best of three match up and hope to advance deeper into the Minor League post-season.
Tune in to the 94.1 KRNA Morning Show on Tuesday Sept. 5 between 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. for your chance to call and win tickets to the Kernels in the playoffs!
