Cedar Rapids Jefferson Students Give Back
Students at a local high school recently participated in a lesson that can't be taught in a classroom: giving back.
Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids served, for the 8th year in a row, a free holiday meal to those in need in the community. They gathered donations from more than 20 businesses to put it together and on Wednesday night, opened their cafeteria to the public.
There was even a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
One student spoke to KCRG about the pride and love this opportunity put in his heart as the organizers and students were expected to serve over 1,300 people at the dinner.
Senior Skylar Linas said:
I love just being able to say I can bring the whole community together in one night with just this one event, and it's just really fun seeing the whole school be able to come in and enjoy a meal together
Kudos to this school and the students for taking the opportunity to make a difference in their community.
