Cedar Rapids is One of the Least Stressed Out Cities in the U.S.
Sit back and relax, Iowans, because we have nothing to be stressed about!
Ok, that's obviously a lie. There are LOTS of things to be stressed about. But, two cities in Iowa just made the list of the least stressed cities in America, so it could be worse!
According to WalletHub:
"In the U.S., stress affects more than 100 million people. The leading causes? Money tops the list, followed by work, family, and relationships. By one estimate, workplace-related stress alone costs society more than $300 billion per year."
The site looked at 182 of the largest cities in the U.S. and ranked them from most stressed to least stressed, based on factors like divorce rates, credit scores, weekly work hours, and adults in poor health. Out of those 182 cities, Cedar Rapids was ranked number 174, with Des Moines not too far behind at number 160. To break it down even further, Cedar Rapids came in 148th for 'work stress,' 158th for 'financial stress,' 177th for 'family stress,' and 133rd for 'health & safety stress.'
Iowa also did well in the sub-category of "affordable housing," with Cedar Rapids in 1st place and Des Moines in 2nd place out of ALL 182 cities!
