Six acres of Inky, Pinky, Blinky, and...wait...where's Clyde? He must have gotten lost in the giant six-acre Pac-Man maze.

If you’re looking to take advantage of the ‘warmer’ fall weather before the temperatures take a dive, head to Pinter’s Pumpkin Patch, located just off Highway 9, west of Decorah. It’s only a 90-minute drive from Waterloo and two hours from Cedar Rapids. It’s a beautiful drive through the ‘Driftless Region’ of Northeast Iowa to enjoy all the colors of Autumn.

Pinter’s is an annual destination for my three little monsters and myself and year-after-year and NOT ONCE have we ever finished the maze. Partly because of how big it is, but mainly because of all the other family fun activities at the farm.

But, if you can decipher this year’s scrambled words on the map you'll find at the entrance of the six-acre maze, you’ll get a prize. 😉

So, what else can you do at Pinter’s Pumpkin Patch? Well, first and foremost, you can PICK YOUR OWN PUMPKIN! Take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch and grab the one you want!

Some of the other many activities include:

Jumping Pillow - the most bouncing fun you will ever have!

Big Slides - climb to the top and zoom on down.

Pedal Go Karts - race around the track, fun for ages 5 - 99. (There is also ‘Junior Pedal Go Karts for the ‘younger racers.’)

Pumpkin Cannon - It's a cannon that fires pumpkins at an old van and other targets. It's a 'blast.' (There's also an 'Apple Cannon')

Sand Tire Hill and Tire Maze - Created in the shape of a pumpkin.

Chess - Life-size chess!

Duck Races - Power up your old-fashioned water pump & get your duck to the finish line. (a favorite of my kids)

Corn Box - A sandbox, where sand is replaced with millions upon millions of corn kernels. (My kids spend the most time here)

Farm Animals and Goat Walk - Meet some new friends and watch the climbing goats.

Tetherball - The game that brings back memories. (I crushed my kids in this game 😊)

Pumpkin Bowling

Grain Cart Rides - Ride through the corn for the thrill!

Plus, many more activities and there are plenty of great spots to capture some memories with your camera and bring home a memory.

When the kids are tired out from all of these activities, head inside to the bakery and try their homemade fudge. Seriously. You’ll be back just for the fudge. It’s that good. There are also insanely delicious cupcakes, popcorn, and cookies, and so much more.

If you still have energy remaining, Pinter’s has an enormous selection of apples in their orchard that you can pick yourself – over 20 varieties!

Pinter’s Garden Center has trees, shrubs, mulch, outdoor décor, flowers, rocks, and anything you could ever need for your garden. Did I mention that Pinter’s also offers professional landscaping?

The Pumpkin Patch is open on weekends in October – so time is running out!

The pumpkin patch is open 9-5:30 on Saturdays and 10-4:00 Sundays. Garden Center Store hours can be found HERE.
