Buzz Osborne has doubled down on his initial review of the Kurt Cobain documentary, Montage of Heck, calling it an “utter fabrication.”

Earlier this month, Osborne -- the Melvins leader and Cobain’s longtime friend -- had some choice words regarding Morgen’s film. Namely, Osborne described 90 percent of the movie as being “total bulls---" and shed some skepticism over Courtney Love’s retelling of her late husband’s life.

In a new interview, Osborne says his review was intended to defend the memory of his friend, which he believes was unfairly damaged by Morgen's documentary.

“Would you feel better if Kurt Cobain did ‘f--- a fat retard’? Do they feel better now? Do they feel better if he actually was suicidal? That makes you feel better? None of that’s true,” Osborne argued in an interview with Riff You. “I don’t think that’s a good legacy for him to have out there … I know it’s not true. It’s that simple.”

As for Love, Osborne says he doesn’t “understand how anybody could possibly defend her.” However, if viewers and fans choose to believe the story put forth by Love and Morgen, Osborne concedes that’s their prerogative and his words won’t change their opinion.

“‘Facts don’t make any difference. What matters is what people believe,’” he said. “The ‘truth’ about [Cobain’s] situation has always been false. So there you go… utter fabrication. That’s never not been the case.”

“If people want to question me and they want to question my authenticity, [I’d say] ‘why would I defend [Kurt] in a way that makes him look better?’ They want to portray him in a way that makes him look worse,” Osborne said. “To be offended by that is really weird. I question their motives.”
