After being asked last week to move from their original location, under the bridge at 8th Ave SW, the couple who has been feeding Cedar Rapids residents out of their trailer for free since the 2020 derecho has, at least, temporarily, found a new home.

According to the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Bridgette Williams-Robinson and Jovountae Robinson were parked and serving at the Restoring Our Community Center (ROC) in SE Cedar Rapids. They posted the announcement on Facebook and went on to thank the leadership of the ROC Center for their help:

Previously, we told you that the nonprofit had been asked to leave its original location after complaints about trash and equipment being left there. That spot is under lease by Linn County to the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) for parking for its staff near the Linn County Juvenile Justice Center. The Robinsons were given a warning by county supervisors to leave the location by April 29 if the issues were not addressed.

So while for now, they are no longer serving "under the bridge", the semantics don't matter. All's well that ends well for this group has been doing great work for the community these last two years

Bridge Under the Bridge will serve hot meals at the ROC Center, 1202 10th St. SE from 3 to 6 p.m. on weekdays, weather permitting.
