Cat Lounge Nonprofit Gearing Up To Open In Eastern Iowa
If you're a cat person, there's a new nonprofit in Davenport that sounds right up your alley.
Books&Meows is a 'cat lounge' that will help kitties get adopted and also help cat people relax.
Here's how it works: for a $5 donation, you can hang out with the kitties: read, work, play with them. There's free wifi and a children's room. There are quieter work areas where you can set up with your laptop. The adoptable cats just roam free. According to BNN, owner Nicole Puryear hopes to work with local animal shelters to make sure there are 10-15 adoptable cats hanging out in the lounge at any given time.
The $5 donation goes to help take care of the kitties and hopefully, the lounge will help take some of the load off of the local animal shelters.
Books&Meows will open January 27th, for eager cat lovers counting down the days. Their hours will be:
- Monday & Tuesday: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: Closed
- Thursday & Friday: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
Sounds like a fun lunch break activity, or if you work remotely, maybe it's a new change of scenary. If you find yourself interested in adopting a kitty you encounter at Books&Meows, talk to the lounge staff. Before the opening, the lounge is accepting donations of books to keep on hand, along with bookshelves or monetary donations you can send on Venmo or Paypal.
They will be at 3719 Bridge Ave. in Suite 2 in Davenport. You can get more details about Books&Meows on their website.
