Calling all lottery players who may have been in Crestwood, Illinois this month... show us your hands. If you aren't familiar with the city, Crestwood is a town of about 11,000 located about thirty minutes from Chicago. From Eastern Iowa, it's about 4 and a half hours out. So why are lottery officials in Illinois so interested in Crestwood? If you traveled through Crestwood in June, you may have 56 million dollars waiting for you.

Check your Mega Millions ticket, people!

On Tuesday, June 8, an Illinoisian - or tourist, purchased a Mega Millions ticket at a Citgo Gas Station in Crestwood. That ticket was a big (really big) winner. Like, to the tune of $56 million. Fast forward, it's the last full week in June and no one has stepped in the claim their hefty cash sum. Now no worries, whenever you win a lotto prize in Illinois, much like here in Iowa, you have a full 12-months to step up and claim your prize. Whether it's a scratch ticket worth a buck, or one worth 56 million, you have time.

The Illinois Lottery in a press release seems pretty eager to get the winner his/her cash now, however. On their website they state,

Looking forward to celebrating this big win with the player and would like to remind the winner that they have 12 months from the date of the draw to claim their prize.

I don't know about you, but I'd be checking my ticket again if I had one for the June 8 drawing. Or, I'd try to be friends with EVERYONE who frequents that store. You know, just in case...
