Drag shows will return to Cedar Rapids in less than two weeks!

Back in early January, it was revealed that the popular Cedar Rapids bar Belle's Basix would shut down for good at the end of the month if a new owner couldn't be found. After 10 years of sole ownership, Andrew Harrison, aka Belle, decided to step away from the business, and he was hoping that someone would take over the beloved space at 3916 1st Ave NE. Just a couple of weeks later, he shared some good news with the public.

As of February 1st, Corridor Entertainment Group took over ownership of Basix, and they're in the process of giving the building a big makeover. Corridor Entertainment Group also owns Studio 13 in Iowa City, another popular LGBTQA bar, so the business is definitely in experienced hands.

When Corridor Entertainment Group took over Basix they announced that it would close for a short time, but that a reopening would soon follow. We now know that the reopening is coming up this month, with a big celebration the weekend of March 11th and 12th!

On Friday the 11th, doors will open at 4 p.m. with Happy Hour until 7 p.m., and the first drag show inside the newly renovated space will begin at 11 p.m. On Saturday the 12th, the doors will open even earlier at 12 p.m., and happy hour will run until 5 p.m. There are two drag shows scheduled for the evening, one at 6:30 p.m. and one at 11 p.m. There are eleven drag queens on the schedule for the weekend, so you know it's going to be a huge party! Plus there will be plenty of giveaways, too.

The Basix Facebook page posted a video showing off some of the ongoing updates inside the building. You can check out that sneak peek below:
