What's up, Braski, it's Sharkansas, stinkiest fish in the Wapsi. I love to disc golf while listening to KRNA on my Radio Pup App. Sometimes when I hear Incubus while at Legion Park in Marion, the plastic flies straighter. Don't deny the S.C.I.E.N.C.E. of the trajectory. Been doing this KRNA radio thing on and off for a decade and a half and couldn't be happier that it's being done here in Cedar Rapids. OK...San Diego would make me happier, but it would take longer to drive through traffic jams to get to the disc course discourse. Scenery would be better though. Come to think of it...does Townsquare Media serve California?

With Four Games Left In Regular Season, Hawks Host Illini At Snowy Carver Tonight
Lots of Hawkeye fans are making judgement calls tonight on the "Carver Commute." The 8 o'clock tipoff is right in the middle of a winter storm bringing up to a foot of show to portions of Iowa. If you choose not to battle the elements and keep your fender intact, the Big Ten Net has the tipoff at 8 p...
Why Do We Sing That Stupid Neil Diamond Song During Every Sporting Event?
Sweet Caroline is not as sweet as she used to be. U2 put that song into their live show in 1997 at Soldier Field. That was cool. Now, it's just worn out. But, I feel obligated to sing it at every live event in this town. Luckily the mic I was next to wasn't turned on...
Westminster Dog Show Winner Was “Normal” For a Change
This year's winner at the Westminster Dog Show was a beagle. Every once in awhile a "typical" breed wins. More often than not, it's some rare breed with an owner that spends the majority of his/her waking hours grooming and poo-pooing. In fact, the winner's circle usually belongs to a dog with "poo" at the end of their name and/or breed name...
Barefoot Field Goal Kicking at KRNA Night at the Titans/Barnstormers Game This Saturday
Field goal kicking has gone through a few phases over the years. When we were kids, the straight-on kicker ruled. In fact, one year Redskins straight-on kicker Mark Mosley was MVP.
Then, the sidewinders started to take over. Early on in that movement was the barefoot kicker...
Gas Tax Proposal Has Our State Split 50/50 on a Dime
The Iowa Legislature will vote next week on a proposed 10-cent-a-gallon gas tax. A Des Moines Register's Iowa poll shows a 50/50 split among Iowans. Roughly half of us like the idea to help pay for road improvements on the over 114,000 miles of state roads and highways...
The Kirkwood Wind Turbine Turns Three – Our DJ’s Provide The Wind
Here in Iowa, we are generating lots of wind energy. A Wikipedia search shows 27% of the state's energy output originating from wind. That puts us in third place nationally, behind only California and Texas. Those two states are the 2nd and 3rd largest...

Next month, some of the best young archers in the state will converge on Des Moines for the State Archery in Schools Tournament. This program is coordinated through the Iowa Department of Natural Resources. Nearly 200 schools are participating on March 7...
Less Than Month Until We Guzzle The Green on St. Patrick’s Day
Heading into another Wind Chill Advisory, here's a thought to warm your heart: St. Patrick's Day is one month from today. Do you remember that 80-degree SAPADAPASO Parade temperature a couple years ago? I'm hoping for a repeat.
I remember talking with the guys at the Chrome Horse Saloon...
Three Days Grace Coming To Burlington Steamboat Days in June
With another long, cold week in store for Eastern Iowans, I think cabin fever is rising to a critical phase. Me and my boys took the dogs to Cheyenne Park yesterday to try to break the cycle. It worked pretty well, but a good outdoor concert would work better and the summer concert schedule is finally starting to take shape for the region this year...
